Andrzej S. Grzelakowski, Ph.D. D.Sc. Professor of economics has been working at the Gdynia Maritime University (GMU) since 2002, being currently the head of the Department of Logistics & Transport Systems. He worked previously as professor at the University of Gdansk (Faculty of Transport Economics by 1991) and then as consul for maritime and transport affairs of the Republic of Poland in Hamburg/Germany (1991-1998) and next as the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Economy (1998-2001). At the same time as the Polish chief negotiator with the EU in transport issues, prof. A. S. Grzelakowski negotiated the Poland’s accession to the EU in transport sector. He has been the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Gdynia Authority since 2002. Prof. A. S. Grzelakowski has more than two decades experience advising Polish government as well as numerous commercial organisations, their associations, public institutions and municipalities on transport and logistics issues.
A. S. Grzelakowski’s main academic teaching and research area focuses on transport economics and policy and in particular, the issues concerning the transport and logistics infrastructure as well as transport and logistics systems along with transport and logistics markets regulation. Besides teaching, his research interests are also within the field of global logistics supply chain management as well as shipping and seaports economics, administration and management. He has been involved in many R&D projects, including FPs, H2020 or Interreg programmes covering a wide spectrum of transport & logistics issues (e.g. IMPRINT-NET, CATRIN, I-C-EU, RCMS, SMPorts), being as well a member of the expert groups and advisory committees, reviewer of various deliverables, etc.). Professor Grzelakowski has published over 290 papers in Polish and international journals and presented more than 130 papers at domestic and international conferences, seminars and workshops.
